There isn't too much known about Houser's Citrus Grove. At least what we've been finding out. Most of his history, surrounds the Zoo Attraction.

Erik Melear, Florida's Foremost Citrus Historian, was kind enough to share some history with us;
"Floyd Houser planted a citrus grove on New Haven Avenue in the early 1950s. A packinghouse for gift fruit was built a short time later. In 1960, he began housing rabbits, other small animals, and a kangaroo. Houser's Groves were renamed in 1961 to be Houser's Groves and Zoo. Many people came on a regular basis to see what was new at the zoo, which continued to grow in size and scope. He obtained the animals from the circuses, amusement parks, and individuals. By 1984, the zoo was named one of the 10 worst in America. At that time, he decided to give the zoo to the East Coast Zoological Society. Today, The Brevard Zoo is considered one of the finest zoos in America.""The property on New Haven Avenue was sold by his estate in 1988. Most of the property was developed in 1998 into the Meadow Lake subdivision. The entrance to the subdivision at 2815 West New Haven Avenue in West Melbourne, Florida is the location for the packinghouse and gift shop shown in the photograph."
Hope this helps.

For those of us that enjoy history attached to these Gems of FloridaPast, I found an interesting website. Borrowed some text to share; "Andrea (anglicied to ANDREW) came to the US on the SS Trojan Prince, through Ellis Island, in 1902. He was born Andrea Antonio Francesco Guiseppe Spada, in Marcedusa, Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy in March 1884 to Eugenio and Vincenza Spada (nee Spada)."
