Original Addison oil painting on wood board
Depicting a Beautiful Serene Florida Natural Scene
1920s - 1930s - self framed - gesso decorated
highlighted with gold tone and blue paint, as done by the Artist
MEASURES; 7" x 4" INCLUDING FRAME;
CONDITION; 9++ FP #359 PRICE $1,565.00 S/H/I; $35.00 Walter Channing (W.C.) Addison;
Born 1876, Beverly, Massachusetts Lived and worked in Mass. and Florida. This little Gem, was in our personal collection for many years. As we can see, Addison was a Very Talented Artist, and certainly would have sold his works to tourists. Much like the notable Highwaymen, who sold their works to Tourists. The value of his works are just beginning to set record prices. We can consider his works to be a "Blue Chip" Investment. |
An early record, 1914, of Addison's winter trips to Daytona Beach, Florida, states that he met the famed and most sought after, Florida Photographer/Artist, E. G. Barnhill, (1894-1987)
-Esmond Gerrard Barnhill- <click for Barnhill history< Which for sure, there was inspiration and education acquired through their relationship. - Having bought and sold well over a thousand various works of art over the years, we've learned quite a lot. Some we learned the "hard way". Selling a painting for say 500.00, then watch it sell at auction for $25,000.00. Only one example of the cost of our education. Surly works by Addison will eventually reach much higher values, especially today, when folks are realizing, it's Best to Invest in the Arts and Antiques. |

Addison's main place to sell his works in Florida,
was at the St. Pete Pier.
Where he spent most of his selling time,
since there were a lot of Tourists that visited the Pier.

Some borrowed history about E.G. Barnhill ->
"E. G. Barnhill specialized in publishing tropical, Florida post cards, greeting cards and pictorial photography of Florida from 1914 - 1932. The printing of his early cards was done in Germany. He published, photographed, and hand colored his cards himself. Most of his cards were printed by the Albertype Company of New York." "Barnhill was always interested in American Indian culture. He met Edward S. Curtis when he was still in his late teens. While working with Curtis, he learned the "goldtoning" photo process using uranium dyes. He experimented with this process from 1914 until the mid 1920s. During WWII he established an Indian Trading Post at the Wisconsin Dells, which he operated summers until 1959. A few years later he opened the Indian Springs Museum in Palm Bay, Florida." Please Credit above history, and read more here -> E. G.
